WordPress Developer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced WordPress developer to join our team. This role demands proficiency in both block themes and custom page builders.

This is a challenging opportunity for the right candidate who has experience with custom theme and plugin development, website performance optimization, server management, and managed hosting environments.

  1. Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins tailored to specific client requirements.
  2. Work confidently across both modern WordPress block themes (Full Site Editing) and popular page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery, Oxygen).
  3. Ensure high website performance and speed through effective code, image optimization, caching strategies, and database management.
  4. Manage and configure server environments (preferably in managed hosting infrastructures such as Kinsta, WP Engine, SiteGround, etc.), oversee deployment pipelines, regular backups, SSL installations, and security monitoring.
Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a WordPress developer.
  • Strong proficiency in PHP, WordPress core, JavaScript (including familiarity with React for Gutenberg blocks), HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Demonstrable experience building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
  • In-depth knowledge of both block-based (FSE) and classic builder-based theme systems.
  • Familiarity with managed WordPress hosting providers and their control panels.
  • Understanding of web security best practices (SSL, malware scans, permissions, etc.).
  • Experience optimizing site speed using tools such as GTmetrix, Google PageSpeed Insights, and WebPageTest.
  • Ability to manage domains, DNS, SSL certificates, and staging environments.
  • Solid grasp of version control systems (Git preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with content migration, multisite installations, and WordPress REST API.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools for WordPress.
  • Experience working on React and projects (Headless WordPress / Front-end Development).
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
