About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced engineer to develop and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in an asynchronous environment and contribute to robust technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications using Ruby on Rails.
  • Legacy System Enhancement: Debug and enhance legacy systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Coding Best Practices: Write clean, modular, and well-documented code following best practices.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate asynchronously with cross-functional teams; contribute to and maintain technical documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Senior Software Development Experience: 9+ years of professional software development experience, primarily with Ruby on Rails.
  • Debugging and Legacy System Management: Strong debugging skills and experience working with and modernizing legacy systems.
  • Database Design and Management: Proficiency in PostgreSQL and relational database design.
  • AWS and Kubernetes Experience: Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes.
  • Test-Driven Development: Proven ability to write high-quality unit and integration tests.
  • Remote Team Collaboration: Comfortable working independently and asynchronously in a remote team setting.
  • Clean Code and Maintainability: Strong emphasis on clean code, maintainability, and software design best practices.
  • Technical Documentation: Excellent written communication skills and a habit of thorough technical documentation.

Bonus Points:

  • Hands-on experience with Python, React, and TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with agile workflows and sprint planning tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Slack.
