Optimising Ubuntu for the latest hardware requires a unique blend of technical and leadership skills.

As a software engineering manager, you will lead an engineering team that works across the full Linux stack from kernel to GUI. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that your team members are growing as engineers, doing valuable work, and having a great time. Technical leadership and a solid background in software development are essential.

Key responsibilities include leading distributed engineers to design and implement the best Ubuntu integration for IoT and server-class hardware platforms, engaging with commercial partners to deliver a delightful Ubuntu experience, and overseeing commercial engagements to ensure timely delivery on project milestones. Strong communication and collaboration skills are also required.

Required skills include working with Linux distributions, debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware, as well as experience managing or leading a team of software engineers and collaborating effectively across multiple internal teams. A bachelor's degree in a technology field is also preferred.
