Job Description

The role of a Cyber Security Specialist involves investigating, documenting, and reporting on information security issues and emerging threats.

Responsibilities include providing Incident Response (IR) support when analysis confirms an actionable incident, isolating affected systems, collecting and analyzing logs, containing the incident, and providing remediation strategies.

Gathering information from various threat intelligence sources and initiating remediation steps to neutralize the risk to the organization is also a key responsibility.

Monitoring and analyzing logs and alerts from different technologies across multiple platforms to identify and triage security incidents affecting the enterprise is another critical task.

Threat hunting along with in-depth investigation and support for incidents escalated from the Security Operations Center (SOC) is also involved.

The Cyber Security Specialist must define and document playbooks, standard operating procedures, and processes, as well as document results of cyber threat analysis effectively and prepare comprehensive hand-off and/or escalation for the Incident Response process.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical know-how on application, system, network, and infrastructure
  • Deep understanding of logging mechanisms, networking
  • Proficiency in EDR, Anti-Virus, HIPS, NIDS/NIPS, Full Packet Capture, Network-Based Forensics, and Encryption
  • Advanced certifications such as SANS GIAC / GCIA / GCIH, CISSP or CASP and/or IR-specific training and certification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as lead investigator and 2.5 years of experience as lead analyst in Incident Response
  • Expertise in IRP creation and execution
  • Good communication skills to coordinate among various stakeholders
