VMware Virtualisation Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure and administer virtualisation environments using VMware.
  • Conduct daily health checks to ensure optimal system performance and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to VMware, vCenter and ESXi at the L1 level.
  • Manage user-submitted tickets in a timely manner and document resolutions accurately.
  • Apply patches and updates to vCenter, ESXi and virtualisation components regularly.
  • Support multi-node clustered setups and assist with vSAN administration.
  • Maintain an overview of resource usage using tools like Grafana, Nagios or OpsRamp.
  • Collaborate with peer teams to resolve technical challenges and share knowledge effectively.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base documentation for troubleshooting and best practices.
  • E nsure compliance with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management).
  • Provide high-quality support with a customer-focused attitude, ensuring prompt communication and case management.

Required Skills:

  • At least 2 years of experience in VMware Virtualisation (L1).
  • A strong understanding of VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi and vSwitches is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with vSAN administration is required.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for VMware environment issues are necessary.
  • Experience with server hardware administration (Linux, Windows) is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of vCenter and ESXi patching is required.
  • Familiarity with server storage connectivity basics is desirable.
  • Experience monitoring environments with Grafana, Nagios, OpsRamp is necessary.
  • Exposure to Incident, Change, and Problem management processes is beneficial.
