Job Summary

AL FAHAD ENTERPRISES is seeking a highly skilled Academic Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing guidance and support to students in their academic journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Counseling: Offer academic counseling to students regarding course selection, academic progress, and degree planning.
  • Goal Setting: Assist students in setting academic goals and developing personalized academic plans.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide support and guidance to students facing academic challenges or difficulties.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with faculty and staff to identify and address students' academic needs.
  • Workshops and Sessions: Conduct workshops and informational sessions on study skills, time management, and academic success strategies.
  • Assessment and Development: Assess students' strengths and weaknesses to help them maximize their academic potential.
  • Career Planning: Collaborate with career services to align academic and career planning for students.
  • Staying Updated: Stay updated on academic policies, procedures, and requirements to effectively advise students.
  • Referral and Support: Identify and refer students to appropriate support services such as tutoring or counseling.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support for students facing personal or academic challenges.
  • Student Orientation: Participate in student orientation and onboarding processes.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential academic records for students.
  • Program Development: Contribute to the development of academic support programs and initiatives.
  • Follow-up and Support: Conduct regular follow-ups with students to monitor their academic progress and provide ongoing support.
  • Departmental Meetings: Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in counseling, education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience in academic advising or counseling role is preferred.
  • Understanding: Strong understanding of academic requirements, curriculum, and educational pathways.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy and Connection: Ability to empathize and connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Assessment Tools: Proficiency in using educational and career assessment tools.
  • Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Organization and Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Student Development Theories: Knowledge of student development theories and counseling techniques.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other academic support services.
  • Academic Software: Familiarity with academic software and student information systems.
  • Professional Growth: Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and ongoing learning.
  • Ethical Standards: Understanding of ethical standards and legal regulations related to academic counseling.
