Hitachi Storage Expert

We are seeking a skilled and experienced storage professional to join our team as a Hitachi Storage Expert. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of SAN and storage environments.

Your key responsibilities will include collaborating with customer storage support teams, participating in problem-solving and troubleshooting, supporting the design, operation, and workflow for storage infrastructure, maintaining systems level maintenance for storage infrastructure, tracking existing storage usage trending and capacity planning for future growth, and providing Storage Area Network Configuration and Administration.

You will also manage infrastructure events, monitor storage subsystem and SAN switch capacity, perform capacity analysis, and analyze performance data and trends.

Additionally, you will investigate and diagnose raised problem(s) or problem records for root cause analysis, perform necessary storage infrastructure maintenance in accordance with best practices from Hitachi Global Support and Company change management policies, interface with assigned Hitachi storage engineers to manage the implementation of all additional storage infrastructure and storage services, mentor and train junior admins, oversee the design, installation, configuration and de-provision of storage solutions, and provide Performance Management for SAN and storage.

We require a minimum of 8 years of experience in handling majority of activities mentioned in the scope above, including experience in handling Hitachi storages and Brocade switches infrastructure. Exposure to Operations and Management activities on Hitachi Storage(s), Unified compute platforms, various Host O/S including basic cluster management is also essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, and Hitachi Technical certification is desirable.

  • Candidate should have hands-on experience on Hitachi Mid-Range and Enterprise storages operations support (allocation, reclaim, lun expansion, lun deletion, storage disk/LDEVs formatting etc).
  • Storage pool creation, pool expansion, pool deletion.
  • Zoning via CISCO SAN Switches, both CLI and GUI and CCI HORCM.
  • Storage replication technologies like GAD, HUR, True Copy, Local Replication etc.
  • Monitoring tools - OPS Center Analyser, Hi-Track.
  • Troubleshooting skills - checking performance issue at storage level, IO Errors etc.
