Job Overview

Project Cost Controllers are responsible for managing project finances and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role involves budgeting, financial planning, risk identification, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budgeting and Financial Planning:
    • Prepare comprehensive financial plans, including project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Financial Management:
    • Ensure timely implementation of financial accounting and reporting processes.
    • Drive optimization of project cash flow, revenues, and GM contribution in collaboration with Central Cost Controller/Project Manager.
  • Risk and Opportunity Identification:
    • Identify and mitigate risks, as well as capitalize on opportunities to improve project outcomes.
  • Project Review:
    • Coordinate regular project reviews with PM/Central Controller/PSCM.
    • Review and have joint responsibility for all financial aspects of the project, including estimate at completion, related cost-to-complete, forecasted revenues, and cash flow.
  • Commercial Awareness:
    • Promote commercial awareness within the project team.
    • Provide commercial input to the project execution plan.
  • Client Coordination:
    • Coordinate with clients for invoice approval, payments, and compliance purposes.
  • Reporting and Compliance:
    • Maintain an updated billing register capturing details of all billings, status, and deductions.
    • Perform weekly reporting of project expenses and reconciliation of SAP entries with invoices.
  • Cost Analysis:
    • Analyze actual vs. budget costs and revenue on the project.
    • Highlight potential issues to the controller manager and project managers.
  • Project Actualisation:
    • Lead the activity of project actualisation (actua) at HO-defined frequency.
    • Coordinate with the project team to obtain required data and discuss finance-related slides with the controller manager.
  • Kappa Review:
    • Review Kappa against budgeted costs and highlight exceeding budgets.
    • Ensure adequate documentation is attached with the Kappa.
  • Monthly Business Review:
    • Share project slides for monthly business review in accordance with timeline defined by the project team.
  • Compliance and Verification:
    • Conduct comprehensive checks on provisions to ensure accuracy and completeness for monthly closing.
    • Verify cash and conduct surprise verification at least once a month.
  • Internal Financial Controls:
    • Lead and supervise compliance on Internal Financial Controls (IFC) as defined by HO in the Risk and Control Matrix (RCM).
  • Guarantees and Insurances:
    • Monitor ABG, PBG, and other guarantees to ensure timely renewal and reduction as per contractual conditions.
  • Tax Regulations:
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Support and Supervision:
    • Provide support to the execution team and serve as a core finance support for all finance-related matters on site.
    • Anticipate issues, discuss with the controller manager, and take proactive actions to resolve them.
