AS400 Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical AS400 Expert to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise for our AS400 systems.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth operation of our AS400 applications, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to improve system performance and efficiency.

You will work closely with our development team to design, develop, and implement new AS400 applications and upgrades.

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong understanding of AS400 technology, including COBOL, RPG programming, DB2 databases, and CL commands.

In addition to your technical skills, you must also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Provide technical support and expertise for AS400 systems
• Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to improve system performance and efficiency
• Design, develop, and implement new AS400 applications and upgrades
• Work closely with the development team to ensure seamless integration of new applications
• Maintain and improve existing AS400 applications and infrastructure

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of AS400 technology, including COBOL, RPG programming, DB2 databases, and CL commands
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience with IBM AS/400 (COBOL, RPG III, RPGILE, SQLILE, CLLE)
• Understand the business purpose of the AS400 application and its overall processes/functions
• Familiarize with system architecture diagram of the AS400 application
• Document various AS400 environments (e.g., Production, Pre-prod, Test, Dev), OS levels, and database versions
• Perform walkthrough of complex, critical, or error-prone COBOL, RPG code modules
• Understand how the AS400 application integrates with other systems
• Knowledge of current monitoring mechanisms, log directories, and housekeeping processes on AS400 servers
• Identify applicable compliance and regulatory requirements for the AS400 system and ensure adherence
• Document dependencies with L2/L3 support teams and interactions with infrastructure teams for AS400
