About Us

The Madras Seva Sadan's Special School is a well-established institution dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with diverse abilities. We are building a dynamic team of special educators and therapists to work with learners with multiple disabilities and to guide participants in inclusive education.

We are looking for a skilled Music Educator who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive music education. The ideal candidate must have expertise in designing and implementing music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, including students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Deliver Lessons: Design and implement music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilise assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
  • Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to Individualised Education Programs.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively in line with our positive behaviour support policies.
  • Organise performances, music therapy sessions, and events to showcase students' abilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Education, Certificate course in Music Therapy (preferred)
  • 3 to 7 years of experience working with children in a mainstream school/special school
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (Preferred)
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing
  • Must know Light songs and Bhajans in Tamil
  • Knowledge of Tamil language is mandatory
  • Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices
  • Experience with communication aids
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude
