Job Description

The Senior Java Developer Lead will provide full leadership and direction to a team of employees in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of developers to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team
  • Oversee the process for technical issue escalation and prioritize technical issue resolution
  • Leverage skills across Applications Development area to provide technical oversight across systems and applications
  • Communicate internal and external departmental interdependence as well as cross product and cross project
  • Resolve issues using in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within applications development
  • Utilize in-depth specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems/issues, provide evaluation of business processes, system processes, and industry standards, and make evaluative judgements
  • Contribute to planning, budget management, formulation of procedures, and resource planning negotiating with external parties when necessary

Qualifications:

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience
  • Commercial software development experience on JVM based language (Java)
  • Good understanding of lightweight web technologies (REST endpoints, web-sockets, JSON , gRPC ), and micro-services in a service-orientated ecosystem
  • Familiarity with modern OO and functional programming practices
  • Familiar with different persistent storage technologies such as RDBMS and NoSQL
  • Experience working with source code management tools - Git or Bitbucket
  • Good understanding of clean coding principles
  • Must demonstrate strong familiarity of design patterns
  • Experience system analysis and in programming of software applications

Bonus Requirements:

  • Understanding of Equity Derivatives technology or experience with other asset classes within Markets
  • Knowledge of Equity Derivatives products and product lifecycle
  • Experience working with UI frameworks such as React or Angular
  • Experience working with OpenShift / Kubernetes or other Cloud platforms
  • Experience of applying TDD and BDD practices and maintaining clean CI/CD pipelines

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
