Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Lead Engineer to join our Commercial Data team in Advertising. This role has key strategic importance and visibility within the business.

About the Role

The purpose of the Commercial Data team is to develop leading property and market data insights to power Real Commercial products. We're looking for an experienced Senior Lead Engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys being hands-on tackling technical challenges and leading teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or significantly contribute to initiatives with strategic focus and value
  • Solve deep, complex technical problems in ways that enable other team members to learn and extend
  • Support the Engineering Manager/Tech Lead in setting the technical direction
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced members of the team
  • Support and drive continuous improvement of our production systems and be an advocate for the overall health of our systems
Requirements
  • Well-versed in SQL, Python, ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Experience with data modeling
  • Experience with data pipelines
  • Experience with data consumption
  • Experience with data analysis and documentation
  • Experience with data warehousing
  • Advanced skills in designing solutions that scale and perform for millions of users
  • Advanced skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies
  • Experience with modern software development techniques (e.g., functional programming, microservice architecture, test-driven development, and CI/CD)
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders
Bonus Points
  • Experience with BigQuery/PostgreSQL/MSSQL, Python libraries (Pandas, Requests, JSON), Docker, Kafka, Linux shell scripting, Git/GitHub, AWS (S3, Lambda, IaC), Airflow, interacting with REST APIs
