Key to Success:

A dynamic administrator is required for the optimization and management of High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration of HPC and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) clusters, user account management, creation and maintenance of Amazon Machine Image (AMI) images, and installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems.

The successful candidate will have progressive experience in HPC system administration, preferably in a Redhat/CentOS Linux environment. Familiarity with AWS Cloud formation templates and knowledge of infrastructure management tools such as Slurm, LSF, and Werewolf are essential.

This role involves close collaboration with other IT professionals to integrate new technologies into the existing infrastructure and ensure optimal operation of the HPC environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • HPC cluster administration
  • User account management for HPC onboarding and offboarding
  • Creation and Maintenance of AMI Images in AMI accounts
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems on HPC clusters
  • Support for HPC components and native services by coordinating with respective providers
  • AWS Managed Active Directory support and Management
  • Continuous upgrades to the HPC platform and related components - OS, Java, Python, EFPortal, etc.
  • Implementation and maintenance of compliance controls, including regular audits, sharing findings, and implementing corrective actions
  • Collaboration with other teams, such as v-drive, in testing and migrating/installing engineering applications to the platform
  • Management of job schedulers like Slurm or LSF
  • Utilization of node provisioning tools like Werewolf
  • Troubleshooting system issues and providing technical support to users
  • Monitoring system performance to ensure optimal operation of the HPC environment
