Applied Scientist III

We are seeking an experienced Applied Scientist III to join our Amazon Shipping team. As an Applied Scientist in our team, you will work on challenging machine learning problems related to transportation optimization.
Your primary responsibility will be to build machine learning models that help predict delivery delay for every package, reduce First Mile shipping cost, and improve buyer experience. You will also work on developing predictive analytics models to forecast ship cost at a package level and improve financial and planning data quality.
As a key member of our team, you will partner with Applied Scientists and Research Scientists from other teams to develop scalable machine learning solutions. You will also mentor junior team members and provide guidance on machine learning best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Build machine learning models to predict delivery delay for every package
- Develop predictive analytics models to forecast ship cost at a package level
- Improve financial and planning data quality using machine learning techniques
- Partner with other teams to develop scalable machine learning solutions
- 3+ years of experience in building machine learning models for business applications
- Experience with neural deep learning methods, modeling tools, and large-scale distributed systems
- Master's degree in math/statistics/engineering or other equivalent quantitative discipline
