Job Summary

As a Senior Design Engineer at Oceaneering, you will be responsible for designing and developing products in the form of devices, assemblies, or systems and validating them to formulate all required technical specifications. You will work independently as well as mentor others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications and study all inputs available for a product or design problem.
  • Design equipment to match specifications, including concept creation, detailed design, design calculations, manufacturing drawings, bill of materials, and product-related technical documents.
  • Establish design approaches, estimate time for execution, and schedule activities.
  • R fine and improve product designs by evaluating current designs and developing new solutions.
  • Interpret and use industry codes and standards relevant to the product being designed.
  • Perform tolerance stack-up analysis of complex problems.
  • Review design specifications, test procedures, and other documents created by other engineers.
  • Review models, drawings, and calculation reports created by other engineers.
  • Handle technical changes and new releases in PLM/PDM systems.
  • Understand and comply with established engineering processes.
  • Monitor and record performance/health parameters related to assigned projects, take corrective actions in case of anomalies, and define/implement preventive action plans.
  • Communicate regular progress updates to customers.
  • Ensure engineering deliveries meet required quality and schedule.
  • Participate in design reviews with internal and external customers.
  • Resolve technical queries raised by customers or third-party reviewers and assist in the design approval process.
  • Execute moderately complex design projects from start to delivery, taking engineering decisions independently.
  • Mentor junior engineers on assignments related to product design and development.
  • Prepare design process documents.
  • Contribute to improving existing engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Graduation (Bachelor's Degree) in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of four years of relevant industry experience; or Post-Graduation (Master's Degree) in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of two years of relevant industry experience.
  • Intermediate to Expert level user of SolidWorks and PLM/PDM software.
  • Strong knowledge of at least one relevant Mechanical industry code/standard (e.g., ASME, DNV, API, AISC, etc.).
  • B a sic knowledge of AutoCAD and any calculations software.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK, characterized as follows:

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
  • Work surface is stable (flat).
