Senior WordPress Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior WordPress Engineer to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in web development and WordPress, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and security.

As a senior engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex WordPress applications, as well as providing technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-performance, scalable, and secure WordPress applications
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Develop and maintain advanced Gutenberg blocks, leveraging hooks, APIs, and custom theme logic
  • Optimize database queries and code execution (profiling, debugging, chasing wasted milliseconds and memory leaks)
  • Integrate with REST APIs and support complex integrations/microservices
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Deep expertise in PHP and the WordPress ecosystem (hooks, APIs, plugins, themes, Gutenberg)
  • Strong SQL skills and proven experience optimizing queries for performance
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs and microservice integration patterns
  • React experience, especially for Gutenberg block development
  • Comfortable with Docker/Podman workflows and Linux environments (WP-CLI, file manipulation, container ops)
  • A performance-minded developer: profiling, measuring, and optimizing code execution
  • MacOS or Linux development environment (mandatory)
  • Good command of HTML, CSS (SCSS), and JavaScript (ES6)
  • Experience working closely with designers and front-end integrators
  • Awareness of accessibility and Core Web Vitals best practices
