Job Summary

This role oversees buying merchandise and coordinates with vendors for the designated departments.

The primary objectives of this position include contributing to the development of strategic plans, working closely with merchandising teams to ensure timely deliveries, identifying future product offerings, and planning pricing strategies.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and sourcing suitable products, maximizing current sourcing channels, supporting negotiations with suppliers, and collaborating with designers and merchandisers to meet customer requirements.

Additionally, the successful candidate will need to keep track of competitor activities, review and adjust seasonal plans, and develop promotional strategies. They will also be responsible for vendor identification and development, obtaining merchandise after effective negotiation, and ensuring timely delivery of samples.

Key Requirements:

  • 8-12 years of experience in kids' wear
  • Bachelor's degree in Design or MFM from a reputable institution

Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the development of divisional buying and merchandising strategies
  2. Collaborate with merchandising teams to ensure timely deliveries and efficient operations
  3. Identify potential future product offerings and plan pricing strategies accordingly
  4. Develop and source high-quality products that meet customer demands
  5. Maximize current sourcing channels and explore new opportunities to drive business growth
  6. Support negotiations and work with the supply base to achieve best costs and margins
  7. Work closely with designers on style development and design research trips
  8. Manage stock levels, style options, quantities, promotions, and markdowns effectively
  9. Monitor competitor activities through market research and analysis
  10. Review and adjust seasonal and weekly plans as needed
  11. Identify and develop new vendors to improve sourcing capabilities
  12. Obtain merchandise after effective negotiation and ensure timely delivery of samples
  13. Establish quality standards for merchandise with QA teams
  14. Reconcile departmental financial plans and ensure accurate store plans
  15. Support negotiations and collaborate with suppliers to achieve best costs and margins
