Job Description

We are seeking a skilled professional to undertake the assessment of existing bridges and prepare comprehensive reports. This role involves utilizing expertise in Steel Composite, Pretension / Posttension structures to deliver high-quality designs and assessments that meet UK standards.

  • Conduct feasibility studies for bridge strengthening and repair projects.
  • Develop new bridge designs and strengthening designs, ensuring compliance with relevant design and health and safety standards.
  • Perform design and assessment checks under the guidance of a senior engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare or assist others in compiling drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence within given deadlines.
  • Ensure adherence to QA, document control, archiving & CDM guidelines on all work.
  • Implement document control and QA processes correctly for issue and filing/archiving of all work carried out.

Requirements:

  • Produce work to specified WSP design standards.
  • Suggest revisions to standards as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with AIP or other project requirements.

  • Utilize WSP Technical library and Information systems to assist design work.
  • Continually strive to develop and increase skills in MIDAS, LUSAS, Superstress, SAM, ARCHI and other computer-aided design software.

  • Participate in team meetings and learning sessions to disseminate information within the team and communicate with other teams.
  • Adapt to the requirements of the job/role and contribute to a 'First Time Right' culture by learning from own and other's mistakes to avoid repetition.
