Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for designing and executing synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute synthetic routes to prepare small molecules for drug discovery programmes.
  • Track SAR and optimizing potency, selectivity, and properties of small molecules for research programs.
  • Perform purification and structural characterization of compounds.
  • Troubleshoot synthetic problems and optimize reaction conditions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate lab records and contribute to technical reports.
  • Collaborate with analytical teams as needed.
  • Provide input on intellectual property activities.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field is not specified but rather 0-4 years of hands-on experience in working on bench preferably in an industry. A M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related field is also acceptable.
  • A PhD in organic chemistry / medicinal chemistry or Postdoc in organic chemistry / Medicinal chemistry (Optional)
  • Skilled in multistep organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and compound isolation.
  • Proficient in chromatography (TLC, column, flash), spectroscopic analysis (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), and purification techniques (recrystallization, precipitation, others).
  • High level of creativity and productivity with strong synthetic chemistry problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in organic synthesis, conversant with the current literature.
  • Effective oral and scientific/technical writing communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to lab safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with reaction databases (e.g., Reaxys, SciFinder).
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications is required.
