We are seeking an accomplished Database Systems Engineer to manage, monitor, and optimize our AWS Aurora MySQL database environments.

Key responsibilities include:

Database Administration

  • Install, configure, and manage MySQL Aurora database clusters in AWS.
  • Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations as required.

Performance Tuning and Optimization

  • Analyze database performance and implement tuning measures.
  • Optimize queries, indexes, and schema designs for improved efficiency.

Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Monitor database health and performance using AWS monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Performance Insights).
  • Implement regular backups, restore processes, and disaster recovery solutions.

High Availability and Scalability

  • Design and maintain fault-tolerant and highly available database solutions using Aurora replicas and other AWS features.
  • Support auto-scaling and other Aurora scaling configurations.

Security and Compliance

  • Ensure database environments meet security and compliance standards.
  • Implement access controls, encryption, and secure configurations.

Integration and Support

  • Work closely with DevOps and development teams to integrate databases with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Provide technical support for database-related issues in production and non-production environments.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and changes.
  • Provide regular status updates and performance reports to stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 5+ years of experience in MySQL database administration. Strong knowledge of database design, indexing, and query optimization is essential. Proficiency in AWS services related to Aurora is also required.

AWS Certified Database - Specialty or other relevant AWS certifications are highly desirable.
