About the Role:

We're seeking a skilled Chief Software Architect to drive the next evolution of our Platform. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing a unified query layer, optimizing data access patterns, and creating a domain-specific language for engineers to interact with foundational elements.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of software engineering experience, with expertise in building large-scale distributed systems and preferred experience in our technology stack, including Python, Django, Golang, React, MongoDB, Presto, Pinot, Kafka, and AWS.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and implement a unified query layer for accessing data across multiple storage layers.
  • Optimize data access patterns using algorithms tailored to specific use cases.
  • Create a domain-specific language for engineers to interact with foundational elements.
  • Develop a generic data persistence layer spanning across Rippling's entire technology stack.
  • Build fundamental abstractions/frameworks enabling engineers to create OLAP or OLTP-oriented applications.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems, such as high-volume SaaS environments.
  • Preferred experience in building out large-scale product infrastructures/platforms.
  • Preferred experience in our technology stack- Python, Django, Golang, React, MongoDB, Presto, Pinot, Kafka, AWS.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by identifying areas of impact and independently pursuing them.
  • A track record of influencing and enabling forward-thinking technology decisions across a wide organization.
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical ideas with clarity and precision in written and verbal modes.
