About the Role

We are seeking a skilled professional to design efficient, practical, and aesthetically aligned solar solutions. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in creating 2D and 3D rooftop designs, with the ability to model solar panels, mounting structures, and rooftop obstacles accurately.

This role requires both technical knowledge and a design-oriented mindset to ensure effective solar solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create accurate 2D and 3D rooftop solar designs using SketchUp.
  • Model solar panels, mounting structures, and rooftop elements with precise dimensions.
  • Use the mounting structure library to design panel layouts that meet technical and structural requirements.
  • Identify and incorporate rooftop obstacles into the design.
  • Make key design decisions such as leaving appropriate gaps for cleaning and maintenance access, adding overhangs where necessary to maximize generation while ensuring safety and feasibility, and optimizing panel placement for maximum utilization of rooftop space while maintaining shading and clearance guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in SketchUp solar design (rooftop PV projects preferred).
  • A strong understanding of rooftop solar project requirements, shading considerations, and structural layouts.
  • The ability to interpret technical inputs (site surveys, roof dimensions, structural drawings) into workable models.
  • Familiarity with solar mounting structures and the ability to apply them within designs.
  • Attention to detail for accurate modeling and measurements.
  • Good visualization skills to create professional design presentations.
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative on minor design decisions.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sketchup and Skalion.
  • Knowledge of solar engineering basics (tilt, azimuth, orientation, shading, generation estimates).
