Job Overview

The Oracle Database Migration Lead is responsible for overseeing database migrations across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Oracle Exadata and ExaCC environments, including backup/recovery, replication, and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end migration lifecycle, including assessment, planning, execution, validation, and post-migration optimization.
  • Define and drive migration strategy, methodologies, and best practices for zero/near-zero downtime, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Plan, design, and execute Oracle database migrations across multiple platforms, including Data Center-to-Data Center, AWS-to-AWS, Azure-to-Azure, and Oracle Exadata to ExaCC.
  • Perform end-to-end database backup and recovery using Rubrik and RMAN.
  • Implement delta data synchronization strategies for near-zero downtime migration.
  • Use Oracle Enterprise Manager for database performance monitoring, health checks, proactive alerting, migration tracking, and validation.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects, infrastructure teams, and application owners to ensure smooth migration with minimal business disruption.
  • Document migration runbooks, rollback procedures, and knowledge transfer.
Must-Have Skills:
  • 12+ years of Oracle Database experience, with 5+ years in leadership/managerial roles overseeing database migration programs.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale Oracle migrations in multi-cloud, Exadata, and ExaCC environments.
  • Strong experience with Oracle Exadata administration, migration, and performance tuning, as well as Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer (ExaCC) implementation and management.
  • Rubrik for backup, restore, and DR integration, and RMAN for backup/recovery, delta sync, cloning, and duplication.
  • OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) for monitoring and migration validation, and hands-on experience with cloud-native database solutions in AWS (RDS, EC2, S3) and Azure (Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Recovery Vaults).
  • Experience in data purging, retention policies, and compliance for regulated environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and problem-resolution skills, particularly in Exadata/ExaCC environments.
