Job Description:

As a key member of our data platform team, the Enterprise Data Observability Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive observability frameworks to monitor performance, reliability, and availability of enterprise data platforms and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implement Observability Frameworks: Develop and implement robust observability frameworks that provide real-time insights into platform performance, data pipeline health, system availability, and operational service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Define and Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish and track KPIs across critical platform components and data pipelines to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Integrate Monitoring and Logging Tools: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate monitoring and logging tools to enable root cause analysis and incident response.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Work closely with platform engineering, SRE, and product teams to enhance observability coverage, automate incident responses, and drive best practices in telemetry collection, dashboards, and visualization.
  • Lead Operational Reviews: Oversee incident management processes, post-mortem practices, and operational reviews to ensure continuous reliability improvements and highlight system health, risks, and opportunities for optimization.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data platform engineering or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing observability frameworks, including monitoring, logging, and tracing.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with containerization using Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
