Job Description

Synergy and Collaboration

The ideal candidate will work closely with our engineering teams, including site reliability engineers, performance engineers, and core product engineers. Together, we will drive innovation and improve the overall efficiency of our data services tier.

This role requires ownership of all technical aspects of our data services infrastructure, ensuring 24X7 availability and effective performance. As a team player, you will be responsible for designing, automating, and documenting operational processes, tasks, and configuration management.

You will also play a key role in evolving our architecture to meet the demands of Okta's rapid growth and the hundreds of millions of users who rely on us for uninterrupted access to critical enterprise and consumer applications.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure seamless performance and high availability of the production database tier.
  • Design and automate operational processes, tasks, and configuration management.
  • Collaborate on performance tuning, scaling, and benchmarking the data services infrastructure.
  • Contribute to automation using tools like Ansible, Chef, and Terraform.
Requirements

Technical Skills

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL administrator with extensive knowledge of cloud environments. You should have proficiency in Linux internals and tuning, as well as experience working with AWS or equivalent platforms.

In addition, you should be proficient in writing scripts using Go, Python, Ruby, and Shell programming languages. Knowledge of Terraform, Chef, and Ansible is also essential.
