Senior Tax Associate Job Description

At Smith-Howard, we are seeking a skilled Senior Tax Associate to join our team in Bangalore. This role involves supporting tax compliance and reporting, with a primary focus on general tax work and sales and use tax.

Job Summary:

We require a detail-oriented individual with 2-5 years of general accounting experience to handle various tax-related tasks, including the preparation and review of tax returns, provision calculations, and audits. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting principles and be eager to expand their knowledge of tax laws and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation and review of tax returns, focusing on sales and use tax for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of tax provision calculations.
  • Help with audits and requests from state and local taxing authorities.
  • Maintain accurate records for all tax-related transactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient tax compliance.
  • Support internal and external reporting requirements related to tax.
  • Stay informed on tax law changes, particularly in sales and use tax, and implement necessary process updates.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
  • CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of general accounting or tax experience (required).
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and present clear findings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Estimated Salary: ₹800,000 - ₹1,200,000 per annum
