Cisco SDN ACI Engineer

About the Role:

  • Design, implement and maintain Cisco ACI fabric-based Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions with high scalability.
  • Configure Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC), leaf/spine switches, policies, contracts, endpoint groups (EPGs), and tenants for improved network efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize Cisco ACI deployments and fabric connectivity to minimize downtime.
  • Integrate Cisco ACI with third-party systems such as VMware vCenter and firewalls for seamless data center operations.
  • Manage data center migrations and network transformations to Cisco ACI architecture for increased productivity.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for Cisco ACI-related processes and runbooks to ensure knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with network security and cloud teams to enforce policy compliance.
  • Assist in network automation using tools like Ansible and Python scripting for Cisco ACI API to reduce manual errors.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is required.

Required Skills :

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI, APIC, and fabric components for efficient deployment.
  • Good understanding of Layer 2/3 protocols, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, MPLS for stable network operation.
  • Familiarity with Nexus 9000 series switches (NX-OS/ACI mode) for enhanced performance.
  • Experience integrating Cisco ACI with VMware (vDS, vCenter) for simplified management.
  • Understanding of multitenancy, VRF, BD, EPG, and contracts in Cisco ACI for improved network segregation.
  • Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Python, REST API, Ansible) for reduced manual intervention.
  • Network monitoring tools (e.g., Cisco DCNM, SolarWinds, etc.) for real-time issue detection.

Preferred Skills :

  • Cisco certifications: CCNP Data Center, CCIE Data Center for advanced networking skills.
  • 5–10 years of experience in enterprise networking and 3+ years in Cisco ACI for strong technical expertise.
