Oracle Database Administrator

Pythian is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our global support team, you will be responsible for providing complete support for all aspects of managed database and application infrastructure operations to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinating, analyzing, designing, implementing, and administering solutions to meet client needs.
  • Recommending best practices for improvements to current operational processes.
  • Configuring and maintaining Oracle database servers.
  • Troubleshooting operational problems and providing timely resolutions.
  • Administering proactive database daily checks and responding to monitoring alerts.
  • Communicating status and planning activities to customers and team members.
  • Participating in the team's rotational shift pattern and on-call coverage rotation plan.
  • Opportunity to learn PostgreSQL and provide PostgreSQL support.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of DBA experience managing Oracle databases (including Oracle RAC) with a good foundational understanding of Oracle database technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and performance improvement skills, including index creation, query optimization, schema changes, and database security management.
  • Good experience in Linux and knowledge of Oracle DataGuard and GoldenGate replication.
  • Knowledge of DevOps/Automation is preferred.
  • A basic understanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager or PostgreSQL pgAdmin console.
