Job Description

This role oversees the deployment and maintenance of secure and scalable Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems, encompassing Root and Subordinate CAs, Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs), Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) responders, and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs).

The specialist is responsible for developing certificate policies, trust models, and key usage standards to ensure alignment with organizational security strategy.

Key tasks include architecting PKI upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery initiatives in collaboration with enterprise architects and security teams.

Certificate Lifecycle Management
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of digital certificates, including issuance, renewal, revocation, and expiration.
  • Implement and maintain automation tools for certificate management, such as Venafi, AppViewX, or Keyfactor.
  • Integrate certificate management with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Monitor certificate health and compliance using automated dashboards and alerting systems.
Security & Compliance
  • Ensure PKI systems adhere to internal security policies and external standards, such as NIST or ISO 27001.
  • Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments of PKI infrastructure.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for PKI architecture, processes, and procedures.
Support & Troubleshooting
  • Serve as the highest level of escalation for PKI-related incidents.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Level 1 and Level 2 support teams.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve certificate-related issues.
