Job Title: Compliance Specialist

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective coordination, maintenance, and documentation of compliance activities across our institution.

Main Duties
  • Compliance Coordination
    • Assist in managing day-to-day compliance obligations, including OfS and UK GDPR requirements.
    • Maintain compliance trackers and logs to ensure timely submission of statutory returns or compliance actions.
  • Documentation & Records Management
    • Accurately record data processing activities, data breaches, subject rights requests, policy reviews, and updates.
    • Support drafting, formatting, and publishing internal policies and procedures.
  • Data Protection Administration
    • Handle Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) efficiently.
    • Ensure proper archiving and accessibility of records related to consent, privacy notices, and data processing agreements.
  • Reporting & Audit Preparation
    • Collate documentation and evidence for internal and external audits or inspections.
    • Generate regular compliance status reports and dashboards for internal use.
  • Staff Training & Awareness
    • Monitor and report on mandatory compliance training completion rates.
    • Provide administrative support for scheduling and tracking training, webinars, and briefings.
  • Cross-Departmental Liaison
    • Coordinate with departments to gather compliance inputs.
    • Support communication of new policies, updates, or alerts across departments.
    Requirements
    • Administrative or compliance experience (3–5 years).
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with UK GDPR principles.
    • Competency in using Microsoft Office applications.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity risks and controls.
    • Previous experience in a higher education institution or public sector is valued.
    • Awareness of the Office for Students (OfS) regulatory framework.
