Job Description

This role is responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings using CAD and GIS tools and software from sketches, layouts, or notes provided by field engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to high-level design to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.

The ideal candidate will work with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, and industry-standard drafting. They may also be involved in system management, including file maintenance, backup, and storage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and layering, fundamental knowledge of Outside Plant, running line, conduit, and cable design for fiber optics, manholes, hand holes, and poles (aerial and underground).
  • Assist in the planning, analysis, and recommendations in support of new construction of outside plant network structures and facilities.
  • A thorough understanding/experience in the Outside Plant telecom industry, public right-of-way, private easements, and existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas, and other underground and aerial utilities.
  • Knowledgeable in city, county, state, and local municipalities encroachment permits, Traffic Control, and specialty permits (e.g., UPRR, Caltrans, etc.), easement right-away, and various environmental permits are highly desired.
  • Must be able to interact with local municipalities, Telco engineers, and construction/maintenance forces to acquire OSP Records, ICGS, Assessor Maps, map info, AIS, and Construction Prints.
  • Site surveys, translating field notes to develop and update conduit/cable engineering design drawings in AutoCAD.
  • NDS and AutoCAD experience.
  • Preferred experience with GPON and Corning Flexnap products is a plus.
Requirements:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience Up to 5 to 8 years of related experience Telecom Experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in MS Office; including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook Experience reading blueprints, conduit prints, and floor plans.
  • Experience reading and creating permit drawings and applications.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills for interfacing with different work groups internally or externally.
  • Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-starter.
  • Looking for someone with experience in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Advanced AutoCAD, QGIS experience a plus.
