The Security Operations Centre (SOC) is a critical function responsible for protecting digital assets from unauthorized access and ensuring the overall security posture of an organization. This role requires a highly skilled individual who can monitor and respond to security events in a timely manner, as part of a team on a rotating 24 x 7 x 365 basis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Incident Response: Identify and remediate serious attacks escalated from Tier 1, assess the scope of the attack, affected systems, and collect data for further analysis.
  • Threat Hunting: Seek out weaknesses and stealthy attackers, review vulnerability assessments (CVEs) on monitored assets, and conduct deep dives into datasets to understand what's happening during and after attacks.
  • Event Monitoring: Monitor security events from various SOC entry channels (SIEM, Tickets, Email and Phone), escalate to managed service support teams, tier 3 information security specialists, and/or customer as appropriate to perform further investigation and resolution.
  • Team Lead: Work with SOC Analysts to ensure that corporate data and technology platform components are safeguarded from known threats.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Analyze Events & incidents to identify the root cause.
  • SIEM Management: Assist in keeping the SIEM platform up-to-date and contribute to security strategies as new threats emerge.
  • Emerging Threats: Stay current with emerging security threats including applicable regulatory security requirements.
  • Process Improvement: Enhance SOC security process, procedures, and policies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of customer build documents, security procedures and processes, and document incidents to contribute to incident response and disaster recovery plans.
  • Critical Incident Reports: Review critical incident reports and scheduled weekly & monthly reports to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to standards.
  • Knowledge Management: Stay updated with new threats, vulnerabilities, create/contribute to use cases, threat hunting etc.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience as SOC Analyst
  • Adhere to established processes and procedures
  • General network knowledge and TCP/IP troubleshooting skills
  • Able to trace down an endpoint on the network based on ticket information
  • Familiarity with system log information and its interpretation
  • Understanding of common network services (web, mail, DNS, authentication)
  • Knowledge of host-based firewalls, Anti-Malware, HIDS
  • Understanding of common network device functions (firewall, IPS/IDS, NAC)
  • General Desktop OS and Server OS knowledge
  • TCP/IP, Internet Routing, UNIX / LINUX & Windows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
