Software Engineer III: Process Automation and SCADA Development

Job Description

This position involves the development of software solutions for process automation and SCADA systems in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens/Rockwell, and proficiency in scripting languages like Python.

The successful applicant will be responsible for extracting important data from P&IDs, wiring diagrams, SOPs, Control Philosophy, and related documentation for project execution. They will also be required to write design documents, test plans, and test cases, and work with global team members to ensure quality software delivery.

In addition, the Software Engineer III will need to provide accurate estimates for completing planned tasks and software development, establish and maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all work, and implement, document, and maintain SCADA/MES applications according to design documents.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's/master's degree in electrical/electronic/instrumentation engineering with 5-8 years of DCS/PLC/SCADA Development experience is essential. A strong background in process automation project and commissioning experience with the Siemens/Rockwell PLC platform is required. Knowledge of ISA 88, FDA regulations, particularly 21 CFR part 11, GMP and GAMP systems is necessary.

The ideal candidate should have experience in conducting FAT, SAT and UAT activities for software and equipment. Proficiency in Rockwell-Studio5000/Siemens PLC- Step7/PCS7, Ignition SCADA, and experience with Python scripting is must. Familiarity with upstream and downstream bioprocesses, communication/network protocols such as OPC, Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and exposure to development environments like GitHub, Version Control, DevOps etc. are desired.

Familiarity with MQTT, Traceability etc. will be an added advantage. Willingness to learn and improve technical capabilities is also essential.
