About the Role


We are looking for a highly skilled R&D Engineer II to join our Product Engineering Team at TE Connectivity. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for optimizing existing products and processes, as well as initiating and implementing programs to continuously improve quality and cost while meeting customer requirements.



Key Responsibilities

  • Work on product engineering and development activities on existing product ranges, including EN & MIL AERO Rugged fiber optics product ranges, connectors, and cable harnesses.
  • Provide a structured design engineering approach from concept to production within agreed deadlines and with minimum variations, in accordance with LEAN product development methodology.
  • Create and modify detailed designs in line with project requirements using expertise on CAD software like Creo and execute product change management using PDM Windchill.
  • Demonstrate and ensure products are designed for ease of manufacturing and assembly and provide technical support on product design, form, and function.
  • Support prototype manufacturing and qualification testing based on project requirements.
  • Work closely with the global engineering, project management teams, sales, and operations teams on understanding the voice of customer, project requirements, and costing.


Requirements

  • Experience in new product development, product design, problem analysis, and solving.
  • Expertise in modeling and detailing using CAD software: CREO.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience in PDM Windchill & PLM software.
  • Hands-on experience in design tools such as GD&T, DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and Tolerance Stack-ups.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating, and other Metal Forming and Plastic manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge in Creo Simulate and basics of FEA.
  • Knowledge in Additive Manufacturing process.
  • Experience in Product Design involving Plastic and Sheet Metal & machined parts.
  • Exposure and execution of Fiber Optical product design.
  • Selection of Fiber Optics components.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Product testing and qualification exposure is an advantage.
  • Product knowledge on connectors, cable harnesses, relays is an advantage.
  • Strong technical aptitude with willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Exposure and knowledge on Electrical system design, harness, cabling.


Qualification and Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical engineering.
  • About 7 to 9 years' experience in Aerospace, Industrial Domain Industries.
