Job Title: Senior Legal Advisor

Job Summary:

The Senior Legal Advisor will be a key member of the Legal leadership team, working closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) in all aspects of legal affairs.

This role involves significant interaction with senior management, providing strategic advice on various legal issues, managing outside counsel relationships, and leading internal teams.

  • Provide high-level legal advice on a broad range of issues, influencing business strategy.
  • Assist with litigation strategy and manage external legal counsel relationships.
  • Oversee the legal aspects of company operations.
  • Provide legal support in business acquisition and throughout the project life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Corporate Deals: Lead equity transactions and ensure closure of deals with other parties.
  • Contracts: Lead the contracts function from the Legal team, drafting, negotiating, and finalizing contracts with third-party vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc.
  • M&A/ Corporate Finance: Defend indemnity claims related to corporate funding and sale of assets transactions, draft responses to indemnity notices, and support the Corporate Finance team in SPV governance.
  • Litigations: Support decision-making regarding strategic litigations and lead them as advised by the GCLO/management.
  • Business Acquisition: Support the Business Acquisition team in competitive bids, review bid documents, issue risk analysis, and vet bid proposals.
  • Policy Advocacy: Provide general legal advisory on strategy and interpretation of draft/new regulations, review proposed standard bidding documents, and help the policy advocacy team communicate with authorities.
Requirements:
  • Law graduate from a reputable law school.
  • Work experience of around 15+ years in multinational companies, preferably in power/infrastructure/energy sectors.
  • A mix of in-house and law firm experience is preferable.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Sound commercial understanding of power/energy business and government tenders/projects.
  • Team player with good communication skills (written and verbal).
