Job Overview

The Platform Product Group engineers at Coinbase are responsible for building a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform.

Our teams develop critical systems that ensure the existence of Coinbase.

The group consists of Product Foundations, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and develop platforms for payments
  • Provide technical guidance to teams and collaborate with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
  • Build new services using Golang/Java to meet critical product and business needs
  • Design scalable systems to solve novel problems using modern cloud technology and industry best practices
  • Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams running them
  • Work with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs and debug complex technical problems
  • Review feature designs for security, safety, scale, operational integrity, and architectural clarity
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in architecting large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services and composing service-oriented architectures
  • Strong technical skills for system design and coding
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices
Nice to Have
  • Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks
  • Experience with Blockchain technology (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum)
  • Experience with Golang, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
