Network Infrastructure Manager Job Description

The role of the Network Infrastructure Manager involves overseeing the design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of network infrastructure for our operations. The primary focus is on ensuring continuous and secure flow of data between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) systems.

This position requires expertise in network design, configuration and troubleshooting, along with strong vendor management and collaboration skills. Close working relationship with production and IT teams will be crucial to align network infrastructure with the operational needs of our continuous production processes.

  • Design, deploy and maintain network infrastructure to ensure high availability, low latency, redundancy and security.
  • Collaborate with production and IT teams to meet operational needs.
  • Install and configure routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points for optimal performance and security.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance to identify potential bottlenecks and minimize downtime.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions and modernization initiatives that include security features and future-ready wireless infrastructure solutions.
  • Ensure network scalability to support future production needs and business growth.
  • Implement and enforce network security policies and controls.
  • Manage relationships with network vendors and external partners.
  • Develop redundancy strategies to prevent network failures and ensure continuous data availability.
  • Oversee documentation and compliance with network management standards and protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications

This position requires a combination of technical and soft skills. Key qualifications include:

  • Proficient in designing and managing large-scale production network deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of network security practices and protocols.
  • Experience in implementing OT/IT network integration and managing wired and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting network issues in a time-sensitive production environment.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and drive continuous improvements in network performance.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering or a related field is preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in managing production floor network infrastructure in manufacturing or industrial environments is required. Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network equipment and monitoring tools is essential. Proven experience in leading network architecture projects and managing security protocols is highly valued.
