About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Distributed Systems Architect to join our team in Bangalore. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building large-scale distributed systems that power Amazon Web Services (AWS) Utility Computing (UC).

Job Overview:

AWS UC provides innovative services, from foundational offerings like Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to continuously released new product innovations that set AWS apart in the industry.

As a senior technical leader, you will support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including customer support for specialized security solutions in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery and operations of large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems
  • Design architecturally sound systems aligned with business needs
  • Translate business needs into workable technology solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-company teams to establish technical standards and drive overall technical architecture and engineering practices

About the Team:

The Bangalore team owns caching and streaming solutions currently. We are developing the next generation of these services, which will achieve better performance, lower cost, and higher scale.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science with at least 15 years of relevant experience in distributed systems engineering
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale distributed system deliveries
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one area: distributed algorithms, database storage, and query engines
  • Experience managing complex projects with significant bottom-line impact
  • Technical leadership experience within a large organization

Predicted Salary Range: $250,000 - $350,000 per year

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical experience with data coherency protocols and their implementations
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, asynchronous architectures, and distributed algorithms
  • Understanding of system performance tradeoffs, work scheduling, and high availability engineering
  • Experience with high-performance transactions and time ordering
