HPC System Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled HPC System Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in administering High-Performance Computing (HPC) and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) clusters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer HPC and VDI clusters, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Manage user accounts for HPC onboarding and offboarding, adhering to strict security protocols.
  • Creation and Maintenance of AMI Images in AWS accounts, leveraging CloudFormation templates.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems on HPC clusters, with expertise in Redhat/CentOS environments.
  • Support HPC necessary components and native services by coordinating with respective providers, such as CycleCloud and AWS Parallel Cluster.
  • Ensure seamless integration with other IT systems through active directory management.
  • Implement and maintain compliance controls, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions as required.
  • Coordinate with other teams in testing and migrating/installing engineering applications to the platform.
  • Manage job schedulers like Slurm or LSF, ensuring efficient resource allocation and utilization.
  • Utilize node provisioning tools like Werewolf, streamlining infrastructure setup and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide technical support to users, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure optimal operation of the HPC environment, leveraging metrics and analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to integrate new technologies into the existing infrastructure, driving innovation and growth.
Requirements:

The following skills and qualifications are essential for this role:

  • Progressive experience in HPC system administration, preferably in a Redhat/CentOS Linux environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Experience with job schedulers, such as Slurm or LSF, and node provisioning tools, such as Werewolf.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms, including AWS.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
