Job Description

The position of Embedded Engineering Cybersecurity Specialist focuses on ensuring the security and integrity of runtime codebase architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a cybersecurity expert to develop secure software releases, meeting internal and external standards for cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and customer needs.
  • Provide guidance in architecting, designing, and threat modeling to members during the development cycle.
  • Perform code reviews as part of the Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) process.
  • Cybersecurity Expertise:
  • Evaluate, track, and resolve product and runtime cybersecurity issues and related technical debt in third-party packages.
  • Manage and use tools for static and dynamic code analysis, including Coverity, SQuORE, Halgrind, Valgrind, and CppCheck, as well as Software Composition Analysis with Black Duck Binary Analysis and Black Duck Hub.
  • Address false-positive findings, evaluate and triage bugs, resolving or assigning to an SME as appropriate.
  • Reporting and Data Management:
  • Ensure quality data for all significant branches is current and accessible for use by management.
  • Setup regular scans to detect abnormalities and notify if trending is upward.
  • Create and update formal reports on branches.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline
  • 8-12 years' experience in code development for multitask embedded systems running in Linux, VxWorks/RTOS, and Windows
  • Programming skills with object-oriented design (C/C++) and scripting languages (Python, Bash, Shell, PowerShell)
  • Familiarity with Open-source software (OSS), Git, GitHub, Debian GNU/Linux, Ubuntu
  • Familiarity with Software Composition Analysis (SCA), Static Code Analysis, and Fuzz testing
