Senior Process Safety Design Engineer

A seasoned Senior Process Safety Design Engineer is sought to join our team at Black & Veatch. This individual will be responsible for performing process safety design activities in various phases of projects, including conceptual design, feasibility studies, and detail engineering. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in the LNG, FLNG, offshore, oil & gas, green hydrogen/ammonia, and petrochemical industries.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, scheduling, and organizing projects related activities of HSE/Process Safety engineering. This includes interaction with all other disciplines and issues regarding interfaces of work related to various disciplines with HSE engineering activities.
Liaison with regulator/statutory body related to approval, clearance, and permission for feasibility of project. Preparation of Detailed Design Deliverable of firefighting & loss prevention.
Checking/Preparation of fire water P&IDs for the ongoing detailed engineering projects/FEED package/proposal etc. Fire Water network layout, Gas Detection System, Water Spray System, Sprinkler System, Fire Water Tank, Pump Calculation, and fire water demand for firefighting. Fire water system water hammer/surge analysis.
Coordination & Review of third-party studies like QRA Study, HAZID Study, HAZOP Study, SIL Study, F&G Detector Mapping, and Noise Study for the upcoming projects.
Hand-on experience on software –Aspen Hysis, Aspen Flarenet, AFT Fathon & Impulse, DNV PHAST/SAFETI, SOUND PLAN/CadnaA, etc.
Electrical Hazardous area classification as per API, IEC, and IP norms for all the projects.
Interaction and troubleshooting of various technical issues related to site with Clients, Project Management Consultancy, Licensor, Vendors, and Subcontractors and inter-department on various project-related activities.
Management ResponsibilitiesPreferred Qualifications- B. Tech in Chemical (Preferred)/Mechanical
- Post-qualification 8-25 years of relevant experience is essential.
- Knowledge on local and international design standards like NFPA, OISD, IP, API, BS, DNV Class, etc., is essential.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Typically a minimum of 11 years related work experience.
CertificationsMost positions – depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division – will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit* of such registration. Additional professional registration or licensure may be needed when practicing or on assignment in a different country.
