Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to spearhead the development and implementation of robust backend solutions that support our business objectives. Leveraging your extensive experience in backend technologies, architectural design, and API management, you will architect scalable systems that drive operational efficiency and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design: Design the overall structure of software or technology solutions, including architecture, components, modules, and their interactions, ensuring alignment with project goals and requirements.
- Technology Selection: Evaluate and choose appropriate technologies, frameworks, platforms, and tools that best suit the project's needs and constraints.
- API Design and Management: Specialize in designing and managing APIs that integrate seamlessly with various systems, driving operational efficiency.
- Fulfillment Optimization: Develop solutions that enhance the efficiency of product fulfillment, ensuring timely and accurate order processing and delivery.
- Warehousing Solutions: Design and manage sophisticated warehousing systems that provide real-time inventory tracking, optimized storage solutions, and efficient order handling.
- Transportation Management: Implement advanced transportation management systems that optimize routes, reduce delivery times, and ensure the timely arrival of goods.
- Scalability and Performance: Design systems to handle increasing loads and ensure optimal performance, considering factors like load balancing, caching, and database optimization.
- Security: Identify potential security risks and implement measures to protect the system against threats, including encryption, authentication, authorization, and other security mechanisms.
- Integration: Design how different components and systems will interact and communicate, both within the project and with external systems.
- Quality Assurance: Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes to maintain code quality and consistency.
- Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, design patterns, and development guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the development of technology products aligned with business objectives.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, including planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects to meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, resolving complex technical challenges.
- Process Improvement: Enhance engineering processes for efficiency and quality. Implement best practices and methodologies to improve overall performance.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize development processes, ensuring infrastructure performance and cost efficiency.
- Team Building: Build and grow a technically strong, business-aligned tech team.
- R&D Leadership: Lead research and development efforts to continuously innovate, experiment with new technologies, and foster a culture of creativity and exploration within the technology team.
Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with:
- Engineering Background: An engineering graduate with 10+ years of experience, including 4+ years in a leadership role encompassing all aspects of engineering and product.
- Hands-On Leadership: A leader who can leverage data to enable business.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Angular, Node.JS, HTML5, Kotlin, Apache, Golang, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
- Backend Expertise: Extensive experience in backend technologies and architectural design.
- API Management: Strong experience in designing and managing APIs.
- Agile Methodologies: Strong knowledge and experience in agile methodologies, with experience working with multiple scrum teams on simultaneous builds.
- Industry Experience: Experience in e-commerce, software product development, logistics, and supply chains preferred but not essential.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for market trends and opportunities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Leadership Abilities: Proven track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
