Job Title: Health and Safety Officer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Officer to join our team at Bupa. As a Health and Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting the H&S Team by providing technical and geographical Health and Safety activity across UK based sites in Health Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and advise site managers to fulfill their OSH responsibilities.
- Investigate all legally reportable injuries to ensure accurate reporting within defined timescales.
- Assist operational teams in the implementation of control measures on the back of Risk Assessments.
- Manage own diary and movements to maximize efficiency of own resource.
- Work closely with L&D to supply training in H&S Risk Assessment.
- Monitor compliance against H&S policy and independently audit Bupa locations.
- Contribute towards the positive direction of H&S in various campaigns, policy reviews and procedure development.
- Prepare written reports upon request on investigation, audits or topics relevant to H&S purpose.
- Help and support the Health and Safety Lead with the implementation of their H&S plans and contribute towards the wider H&S agenda.
Requirements:
- Minimum of NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent.
- Prepared to undertake additional training as required to fulfill the role and the ambition of the department.
- Must keep self up to date with current and emerging legislation and guidance in the field of H&S to provide professional in-house expertise.
- Be a member of a professional safety body such as IOSH, IIRSM, CIEH, BSC.
- Previous experience in a safety role is required.
- Good written and communication skills.
- Competent in the use of general IT software – word, excel, powerpoint & e-mail.
- Ability to influence and negotiate is desirable.
Environment:
The role is based from a Bupa Location however travel to other locations will be required. A role requirement/essential user car will be provided for H&S Officers as they require extensive UK business travel.
