Job Title

A skilled Dam Design Specialist is sought to serve as the nodal expert for all design review matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and Validation: Review submitted Preliminary Safety Templates (PSTs) for design aspects and basic layout plans.
  • Preliminary Design Assessment: Assess and finalize preliminary designs of rehabilitation works for PSTs before submission to the World Bank.
  • Technical Document Review: Review technical bid documents, bill of quantities, and technical specifications for rehabilitation activities.
  • Design Support: Provide need-based design of major rehabilitation components to support DRIP Inspectors.
  • Cost Estimation: Estimate costs based on item rate analysis or Scheduled of Rates (SOR).
  • Physical Modeling: Offer expert input for physical modeling of significant structural interventions.
  • Construction Surveillance: Participate in Construction Surveillance and Quality Assurance (CS&QA) activities as a third-party representative.
  • Dam Safety Inspection: Conduct dam safety inspections and manage transmittals.
  • Training and Development: Facilitate capacity building of DRIP Inspectors through customized training programs.
  • Policy Formulation: Contribute to the revision of existing guidelines and formulation of new ones.
  • Information Management: Provide inputs for the National Website for dam safety information and the Management Information System (MIS).
  • Institute Partnerships: Assist in developing in-house expertise at select Academic Institutes.
  • Training Calendar Development: Develop a Training Calendar for design activities and customized training programs for the annual DRIP Calendar.
  • Need-Based Inspections: Conduct need-based inspections of DRIP dams.
  • Panel Accompaniment: Accompany central Dam Safety Review Panels for special safety issues.
  • Project Support: Support DRIP-related activities assigned by the Project Director, CWC.
  • Technical Presentations: Present technical case studies at Annual Dam Safety Conferences and international workshops/conferences.
  • Paper Publication: Collaborate with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for joint publication of technical papers.
  • Project Reports: Prepare Project Rehabilitation Reports (PRR).
