Key Role Summary

The Principal Programmer role is crucial in providing programming support to our statistics and programming department across various projects, clients, and therapeutic areas.

This involves manipulating large databases and generating reports to enable analysts to explore real-world healthcare data assets. Excellent SAS and SQL programming skills are required, along with the ability to implement complex logic.

Candidates must be comfortable creating complex analysis data sets derived from multiple data sources, with a keen eye for outliers and errors.

  • SAS programming is acceptable; R programming is preferred.
  • Therapeutic area experience is not essential, but expertise in rare diseases is advantageous.
  • Real-world healthcare claims database experience is mandatory; equivalent EU database experience is also acceptable.
  • OMOP-Common Data Model experience is highly desirable, even with limited experience.
  • Strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills are crucial.

Technical requirements include proficiency in R and SQL programming, as well as expertise in Oncology databases such as Flatiron or COTA.

Desirable skills include knowledge of Line of Therapy algorithms, Survival analysis, and different statistical models, as well as experience with R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD).

Additional responsibilities include leading internal and client study team meetings effectively, presenting study updates internally and at client meetings, and sharing scientific, technical, and practical knowledge within the team and with colleagues.

Minimum Qualification Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another subject with high statistical content, along with 7-8 years' experience in SAS statistical programming and database programming using SQL.
