Job Title: English Editor/Scripting Editor

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented English Editor/Scripting Editor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for formatting, editing, and proofreading English subtitles for audio and grammatical accuracy for major Hollywood studios. You will also be working on formatting, editing, and proofreading English subtitles intended for the deaf and hard of hearing.

As an English Editor/Scripting Editor, you will perform various tasks such as footnoting cultural references and expressions as an aid to translators, performing audio fidelity quality checks, localizing language and spelling for British and U.S. English releases, manipulating English files using proprietary software, and preparing scripts and running conversions between formats. You will also need to stay abreast of changing studio requests and ensure the timely delivery of projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for editing DHI files as per the set quality and quantity benchmarks on the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Exceptional audio sensitivity – ability to understand spoken American English;
• Good comprehension skills;
• Effective communication skills;
• Proven research skills and fact-checking using Internet-based search engines;
• Broad cultural knowledge and wide range of interests;
• Team player, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and work under tight deadline;
• Technically proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint;
• Good knowledge of Computers and internet;
• Good typing speed and accuracy;
• Proficiency in relevant software;
• Ability to identify and report problems as soon as they occur when working on files;
• Ability to navigate on Sfera and the database well;
• Reading all emails addressed to them by their leads and managers.
