Piping Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

The Piping Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various ASME, API & IBR codes and standards, performing pipe stress analysis (static & dynamic) of critical piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code Requirements, using CAESAR II software.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure compliance with various ASME, API & IBR codes and standards.
  2. Perform pipe stress analysis (static & dynamic) of critical piping systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code Requirements, using CAESAR II software.
  3. Design and selection of pipe supports, springs hangers & Expansion joints.
  4. Perform flange leakage checks, blast analysis, transit analysis, slug checks, wind and seismic analysis etc.
  5. Review Piping isometrics take-offs.
  6. Keep track of all Design changes and managing surplus / needs.
  7. Monitor material requirements and adjust material delta requisitions.
  8. Knowledgeable compiling of requisition packages with all applicable documents.
  9. Design and selection of Piping Material Specification for Piping Systems.
  10. Preparation of Piping Line Class Specifications.
  11. Review Isometric and Piping Spool.
  12. Preparation of Piping BOM.
  13. Preparation of Pipe Wall Thickness Calculations.
  14. Preparation of Valve Material Specifications.
  15. Preparation of MR (Material Requisition) for Getting Quotations.
  16. Review the Vendor offers, do technical discussions with the vendors, and prepare TBE (Technical Bid Evaluation).
  17. Preparation of Material Requisition for Purchase.
  18. Technically Qualify for Vendor Documents Review.
  19. Prepare the list of Piping Specialty Items like Steam Traps, Strainers, Hoses, etc.
  20. Preparation of Valve Data Sheets.
  21. Preparation of Data Sheets for the Piping Specialty Items.
  22. Preparation of Line Blank Thickness Calculation.
  23. Familiar with Material Grades ASTM, ASME, API, etc.
  24. Knowledge in Testing and Inspection Requirements for Piping Components and Valves Compliance with Specifications and Industrial Quality Standards.
  25. Coordinate with Civil/Structural & Mechanical groups to ensure loads are being effectively communicated.
  26. Perform reinforcement evaluation at pipe supports and branch connections.
  27. Prepare project piping support specification & Design Basis.
  28. Perform Procurement Engineering within stipulated time frame of the project.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry with specific experience on piping / Piping stress for Oil and Gas , Chemical and Petro chemical Plant.
  • Effective Team player, capable of working with Multi-National Clients and possess good communication skill.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical / Mechanical / Piping engineering in the relevant discipline or equivalent.
