Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Response Assistant to join our team.

This role involves responding promptly to emergency and general cruelty-case calls and emails, arranging timely assistance for animals in need, and coordinating with various stakeholders to facilitate emergency rescues.

The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational and time-management skills, as well as exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. They will also be passionate about ending animal cruelty and have a strong commitment to the objectives of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency and general cruelty-case calls and emails in a prompt and appropriate manner.
  • Arrange timely, hands-on help for animals in need with the assistance of senior staff members and office assistants.
  • Coordinate effectively with approved animal-protection organizations, volunteers, activists, government bodies, and designated officials to facilitate emergency rescues.
  • File police complaints and First Information Reports, visit relevant agencies and case sites when needed, and perform similar tasks as assigned.
  • Inform members of the public about ways they can help animals with appropriate responses to cases.
  • Maintain and update a database of contacts and services available to our emergency and cruelty-case response team.
  • In accordance with professional standards, ensure that thorough records are maintained for calls and emails received about emergencies and cruelty cases.
  • Participate in professional development training on animal handling, restraining, first aid, and other lessons relevant to emergency and cruelty-case response.
  • Represent our organization professionally to the public, organizations, volunteers, veterinarians, government agencies, the police, and others.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.
  • Voluntary or other experience handling emergency and cruelty-case responses for animals is an asset.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Fluency in Hindi and English.
  • Knowledge of other local Indian languages is an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, including multi-tasking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal patiently with animal-protection organizations, volunteers, and other contacts.
  • Passion for ending animal cruelty and helping animals in need.
  • Compassionate, responsible, and self-driven character.
  • Outgoing and personable manner with excellent communication skills.
  • Adherence to a vegan lifestyle.
  • Ability and willingness to travel independently as needed to handle emergency and cruelty cases.
  • Supportive position vis-à-vis our philosophy and the ability to advocate for our positions on issues in a professional manner.
