Job Description

The Legal Leadership Team is seeking a seasoned AVP to oversee the legal aspects of company business, providing strategic advice on a variety of issues and managing outside counsel relationships.

This role involves significant interaction with senior management, leading internal teams and collaborating closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) in all aspects of legal affairs.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal advice on broad range of issues, influencing strategic decision-making.
  • Assisting with litigation strategy and managing outside counsel relationships.
  • Overseeing the legal aspects of company business.
  • Providing legal support in business acquisition and throughout the project life cycle.

Responsibilities

Corporate Deals: You will lead equity deals and ensure closure of deals and any outstanding issues with other parties.

Contracts: You will lead the contracts function from the Legal team, which involves drafting, negotiations and finalization of contracts with third party EPC vendors, suppliers, consultants, etc.

M&A/ Corporate Finance: You will defend indemnity claims with respect to corporate funding/sale of assets transactions.

Litigations: You will support in decision making with respect to strategic litigations and lead strategic litigations as per the advice of the GCLO/management.

Business Acquisition: You will support the Business Acquisition team in participation in competitive bids, including review of bid documents and issuance of detailed risk analysis of the same.

Policies Advocacy: You will provide general legal advisory on strategy and interpretation of draft/new regulations.

Formulation of processes/SOPs/Strategy documents: You will formulate processes/SOPs/strategy documents as per business requirements to streamline processes and mitigate company's risk exposure.

Legal Advisory: You will provide day-to-day legal advice to business teams.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Law graduate from a reputed law school, with work experience of around 15+ years in multinational companies preferably in power/infrastructure/energy sectors.

A mix of in-house and law firm experience would be preferable.

Desired Characteristics

We are looking for someone with sound commercial understanding of power/energy business and government tenders/projects.

You should be a team player and able to successfully engage with internal and external stakeholders.

You should have good communication skills (written and verbal).
