Cable Design Expert

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cable Design Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in EHV and HV cable design, with a strong focus on technical review, design, and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Review of Sourcing Requests: Conduct thorough reviews of sourcing requests from internal customers to ensure alignment with company requirements.
  • Cable Design: Design high-quality cables that meet customer specifications, focusing on EHV and HV cable design.
  • Support for Internal Customers: Provide expert support to internal customers to optimize their sourcing requests based on supply chain partner capabilities.
  • Review of Cable Inquiries: Review cable inquiries from customers and convert them into cable sourcing requests.
  • Technical Clarifications: Perform technical clarifications with supply chain partners to ensure accurate product information.
  • Short Circuit Calculations: Conduct short circuit calculations using Excel to define wire screen/metal sheath size.
  • Ampacity Calculations: Perform ampacity calculations with CYMCAP to define/verify conductor sizes.
  • Drum Length Calculations: Use the drum length calculation tool (Excel) to calculate drum lengths.
  • Technical Data Sheets: Check and accept technical data sheets from supply chain partners.
  • Prequalification and Type Test Coverage: Verify prequalification and type test coverage of cables offered by suppliers.
  • Document Alignment: Ensure all documents available for external customers align with the supply chain partner marketing strategy.
  • Quality Control Plan: Prepare Quality Control Plans and ITPs with supply chain partners to ensure compliance.
  • Contract Preparation: Prepare the technical part of the contract.
  • Quality Records: Review and accept quality records from suppliers.
  • Type Tests: Prepare type tests as required.
  • Improvement Identification: Identify areas for improvement and drive initiatives to enhance processes and products.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in cable design or a related field.
